Joint Maximum A Posteriori Estimation of Channel and Interference Power with Channel Covariance Estimation for OFDM Transmission

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Superposed multicarrier transmission has been proposed as one of the techniques to improve frequency utilization efficiency. In the scheme, it is possible to reduce the total required bandwidth by overlapping a part of the frequency band of each communication signal. However, since it is affected by interference from the communication signal sharing the same frequency bands, its performance deteriorates. An error correction code is used as one of means to reduce the influence of interference, however, to reduce decoding errors, it is necessary to get information about interference signal (power, position). We have previously proposed the scheme using the joint maximum a posteriori estimation of channel and interference power. Although the scheme achieves good estimation accuracy, channel covariance is necessary for estimation, which is assumed to be known at the receiver. In this report, we evaluate the effect of channel covariance estimation methods with the joint maximum a posteriori estimation of channel and interference signal power. As an estimation method of the channel covariance, we study two methods based on the estimated value of the channel. Through computer simulation, we compare the estimation accuracy of channel and interference signal power with known case.
