Performance analysis of periodic reception for ISDB-T automatic wake-up signal with asymmetric memoryless binary channel approximation
Satoshi Takahashi (Hiroshima City Univ.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In an emergency, some ISDB-T television receivers would wake up themselves by receiving a broadcaster transmitted special signal. The mechanism waking up is that the tuner at the receiver continues work while the main power has turned off, and the tuner waits for the wake-up signal. On the other hand, battery capacity in a mobile receivers would be limited and the tuner would be activated periodically. In this report, the probability a receiver wrongly activated is analyzed approximating the mechanism to the asymmetric memoryless binary channel. The probability that a broadcaster advices an emergency and that would be rare, the duty ratio the receiver wakes up, and the bit errors at the receiver are used in the approximation.
