A study of video condensation based on fast ribbon carving

(in English) In this paper, a fast video condensation scheme is proposed to improve processing time for “ribbon carving”. The proposed method utilizes a down-sampled saliency map and ribbon up-sampling. To detect a ribbon minimizing saliency-based cost, iterative dynamic programming is necessary on the saliency map. Using our algorithm, it is possible to decrease the calculation cost significantly. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves faster video condensation based on ribbon carving without losing important moving objects in comparison with conventional ribbon carving method.
