Comparison between Skilled Driver and Beginner Driver about Confirmation Action of Motorcycle Navigation System

Due to COVID-19 epidemic, an increasing number of people are using motorcycles instead of trains. It is expected that the number of beginners driving will increase as the use of motorcycles expands. In general, beginner drivers have been shown to have a statistically higher accident rate than skilled drivers. It is shown that the cause of the accident is often due to staring at the screen of the navigation system. In this study, we conducted a behavior comparison experiment between a beginner driver and a skilled driver regarding the confirmation operation of the navigation system during motorcycle driving. In the experiment, we measured the number of navigation confirmation movements and gaze time of the driver while driving a motorcycle. As a result, it was clarified that the beginner driver had many navigation confirmations and a long gaze time for navigation while driving. |
