ISDB-Tmm Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting Terrestrial Mobile Multi-Media Broadcasting

In Japan, new multi-media broadcasting services for mobile handheld receivers will start after July 2011 when analog television services will be finished. The Multi-Media Broadcasting Planning, LLC. (mmbp) has proposed ISDB-Tmm(mobile multi-media) systems as a candidate of its broadcasting standard. The most part of ISDB-Tmm is compatible with the ISDB-T including the One-Seg system, which is the most successful mobile broadcasting system at the moment. With the ISDB-Tmm, various multi-media contents such as a video / audio clip, e-book, game software etc. can be flexibly transmitted as streaming and / or downloading services called “File-Casting”. In this paper, the recent market research results concerning the mobile contents business in Japan and the brief introductions of ISDB-Tmm systems and services are described. |
