Multiplexing schemes for IP packets in digital multimedia broadcasting systems

(in English) A growing number of broadcasting systems have an IP-friendly transport mechanism to enable broadcasting services harmonized well with telecommunication services. The advanced satellite broadcasting system, which has been developed in Japan, has the TLV multiplexing scheme for efficient transport of IP packets. The scheme includes a header compression technique for IP packets, transmission control signals for listing IP addresses, and a simple encapsulation technique suitable for the broadcasting channels. This paper describes our experiments on a prototype transmission system to show the effective transmission rate and delay jitter and the functionality of demultiplexing IP packets by an IP address.
