Transmission Experiment of Space-Time Trellis Code on Road Racing Course

(in English) The authors have been studying and developing a MIMO-OFDM technology for future 800MHz-band FPU (field pick-up unit) system, aiming for high data rate and high link reliability transmissions. In the beginning, the authors focused on space-time trellis code (STTC) which exploits temporal and spatial diversities, and proposed a 16-QAM 64-state 2x2 STTC. Then the transmission performance of the proposed 2x2 STTC was examined by computer simulations and fundamental transmission experiments. Last year, an outdoor experiment on the course of “Hiroshima Ekiden” was carried out in order to evaluate the transmission performance of the proposed 2x2 STTC and prototype 2x2 STTC-MIMO-OFDM transmission equipment under actual propagation environment. And the results are shown here.
