Influences of a subthresholdt visual stimulus on saccadic induction

In our previous visual search experiments we obtained a result that saccade induction rate to a target were higher p than that of target detection. However, these saccade and target detection experiments were performed in separate sessions. So the present study tested whether saccade is induced by a subthreshold stimulus with a procedure in which both saccade and detection task were performed in single trial. As a result both couples that target detection rate was higher than saccade induction rate and vice versa were obtained. According to the procedure it is unclear whether observers could detect the target, so it is difficult to compare both rates directly. However, the occurrence that saccade induction rate was higher than target detection rate suggests that a subthreshold stimulus induces a saccade. |
