Composition Method of Finger Letters in Japanese Sign Language by Using Spherical Linear Interpolation

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, we propose a generation method of composite Japanese sign language movements by interpolating two basic finger letter movements obtained by a motion capture system. In the previous works, there are some researches such as a study displaying multiple still finger letters continuously or a study generating a sign language movement by linear interpolation. However, the composite sign language movement generated by linear interpolation is not smooth. Therefore, the proposed method uses spherical linear interpolation considering parent-child relationship and generates a smooth interpolation of finger letter movements.
