Control of Array and Orientation for the FePt Nanoparticles on Silicon Substrate by Chemical Synthesis

(in English) The appropriate arrangement of FePt nanoparticles consisted of one recording bit by one particle is a promising candidate for next-generation bit patterned media (BPM) with areal density of several tera-bit. Previously, we have succeeded in the fabrication of cubic FePt nanoparticles by controlling the reaction temperature of chemical synthesis; the particles were fixed using chemical binding on a thermal oxide Si substrate with modified organosilane as an interlayer between the FePt particles and the substrate. However, the arrangement of the particles formed irregularities, laminate structures, and aggregates. In this study, in order to utilize the particles for BPM, we attempted to develop a simple process to control the distortion of the FePt array using chemical synthesis and geometrical structure prepared by ultraviolet nanoimprint lithography.
