Recently, wide variety of displays have been developed and are practically applied. Among them front projection displays have several features such as relatively large screen capability, high luminance and compact projector system. However, it has important problem of contrast reduction in a bright environment. We proposed a new front projection system for large screen by diffusing only projected light towards the viewing angle range and reflecting ambient light towards the other angle ranges. With this system, we realized a high quality and large size front projection display with a high contrast ratio even in a bright room. |
