Identifying Individuals of Fruits using Agri-biometrics

This paper proposes a new method using agri-biometrics to identify individuals of fruit. The method uses only a single image of the rind patterns. The proposed method normalizes the differences in poses, extracts feature points from the rind pattern, and verifies the disposition of the points. In experiments to identify 1,800 melons, the high performance of FAR of 10e-6 at FRR of 0.23%.is achieved. Once the farmer takes photos of the fruit, anyone who trades or buys the fruit can verify its identity by just taking a photo. Since the rind pattern of the fruit cannot be imitated, the method contributes to achieve safe and reliable food traceablity. |
