An Image Processing of X-ray CT Images of Concrete for the Simulation of Non-destructive Inspection

Recently, there is an increasing demand for non-destructive inspection in order to grasp the internal state of objects. To improve the efficiency and reliability of the inspection, it is necessary to forecast the behavior of a propagating wave in an object. Once we understand the internal state of the object and build a 3D model, we can forecast the shape of wave easily. However, the object (e.g. concrete), which is composed of heterogeneous materials has acoustic or electromagnetic anisotropy, and physical properties of each material are not the same, so it is difficult to simulate the propagating wave. Therefore, in this study, we propose a method to divide the object area into regions which reflect different materials on X-ray CT image for the establishment of 3D model. |
