Development of a System Estimating Unpleasantness about Shaking Images

(in English) As the screens of home TVs become larger, the number of viewers, who feel a sense of unpleasantness from shaking images may increase. In order to find and revise such images efficiently at the production stage, I have been developing a system which automatically estimates the unpleasantness degree invoked by shaking images at each scene. A new analyzing algorithm, which is based on the relationship between physical characteristics of images and unpleasantness, is implemented at the system. By applying the algorithm, real time estimation of the unpleasantness degree was realized, and the unpleasantness degree about partial shaking images came to be estimated precisely. As a result of psychological estimation experiments with 32 shaking images, it was confirmed that differences of estimated unpleasantness degree between the developed system and the average subject are all less than the standard deviation of the experimental data.
