We investigated the influence of display luminance and ambient illuminance on preferred color reproduction of LCDs. Young and elderly subjects selected the preferred L* and C* for three different images ( i.e. face, sky, lawn). The results indicated that the preferred L* was influenced by display luminance and ambient illuminance. The elderly subjects preferred the higher L* than did young subjects. The preferred C* for the sky and lawn images were higher when the lower display luminance conditions, regardless of ambient illuminance and subjects’ age. For the face image, the older subjects preferred the lower C* than did young subjects. |
