Time interleaving effect on the mobile reception for mobile multimedia broadcasting in the VHF-Low band

(in English) Since the mobile multimedia broadcasting in the VHF-Low band has the narrow band and the long wavelength, the electric field strength change by fading becomes slow and long burst error occurs. Then, diffusion of the error by time-interleave is very effective. In this report, we studied on the relation between the time-interleave length and the erroneous second ratio (ESR) in the mobile reception environment. As a result of the laboratory experiment and the field test, it was shown that the required electric field strength of 1 dB was improved at ESR5, if time-interleave was lengthened from I=4 to I=8 at the speed of 50 km/h or less. Moreover, it was shown that the ESR improved 20% in the area near to the fringe.
