Analysis of Tumor Region in Contrast Enhanced Chest MRI Using Blood Flow Model

(in English) Lung has two types of arteries, pulmonary and bronchial, which supply deoxygenated and oxygenated blood. Since the bronchial arteries are much smaller than pulmonary arteries, the blood flow in pulmonary arteries is only visible in general using contrast enhanced MRI. However, cancer cells induce capillary growth (angiogenesis), making them to supply aortal blood via bronchial arteries. In this paper, we first describe a method of cancer region evaluation using the fitting error when one-source blood flow model is applied into time-sequence contrast enhanced MRI. Then, we discuss the effects of a multiple-source blood flow model to discriminate the pulmonary and aortal blood flow.
