An SVDD-Based Method for Taxonomy Estimation of Benthic Species from Microscopic Images

(in English) This paper presents a Support Vector Data Description (SVDD)-based method for finding new benthic species from microscopic images and its application to taxonomy position estimation. First, the proposed method generates hyperspheres which represent taxonomic species taxa and ultra-species taxa of known species. Next, by using this decision tree, new benthic species can be found from target samples, and their taxonomic positions can be also estimated. In addition, when new species are registerd, the proposed method introduces a method which automatically updates the existing decision tree, and allows the efficient reconstruction of the classificatio system.
