A Note on Accuracy Improvement of Error Analysis in Numerical Weather Prediction

(in English) This paper presents an estimation method of prediction error degrees in numerical weather prediction. The proposed method defines some levels representing prediction error degrees and estimates the level of unknown prediction error by applying ordinal regression to features extracted from the known prediction errors. Furthermore, the proposed method utilizes not only features extracted from prediction errors in the location of estimation object, but also features of prediction errors propagated there from its neighboring area by the air flows, and more accurate estimation of prediction error degrees becomes feasible.
