Discrimination of Facial Expression using 3D Trajectory of Feature Points on The Face

(in English) We defined feature vectors that represent the 3D coordinates of the marker points attached on human face, which were measured by a motion capture system, and investigated the discrimination capability of the feature among several categories of facial expressions by classification experiments. With a simple minimum distance classification method as well as dimensionality reduction of the feature vector achieved by PCA, we confirmed humanlike ability of facial expressions through evaluation testing of classification accuracy conducted by the leave-one-out method. And we applied the classification dictionary to new test data for comparison.
