Frequency reallocation from 700-MHz band to 1.2/2.3-GHz band on FPU (Field Pick-up Unit) system, which is usually used for relay broadcasting of outdoor sports events such as road races, is being studied. For higher capacity and more reliable radio link in the new frequencies, the authors developed 2x2 STTC-MIMO-OFDM (Space-Time Trellis Code - Multiple-Input Multiple-Output - Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system. Using this system, field tests on various road racing courses were conducted. In LOS (line of sight) environment of road racing operation, it was observed that the performance degradation occurred due to highly correlated MIMO channel. This report shows that the performance of STTC-MIMO in correlated MIMO channel can be improved by revising signal mapping rules, which was confirmed by computer simulation. |
