A Note on Evaluating Image Search Result Visualization Methods Based on Feature Integration Theory -- Verifying Effectiveness from Comparison of Different Visualization Methods --

(in English) This paper presents the verification of the effectiveness about the feature integration theory-based criterion for the image search results visualization from comparison of different visualization method.The previously proposed criterion is composed of the following two evaluation values. First, we obtain visual saliency on the visualization of image search results by using the feature integration theory as the evaluation value for the effectiveness of finding users' desired images.Next, we calculate degree how similar images close to each other are grouped together on the visualization, which is the evaluation value for the effectiveness when users find images similar to their desired ones.Furthermore, a criterion which evaluates the effectiveness of the visualization method for image search results can be derived from the combination of these evaluation values.However, there has been no sufficient verification for the validity of the criterion. Thus, by comparing for the criterion several visualization methods, we verify the effectiveness of the criterion.
