Long Term Stabilities of Magnetic Tape for Data Storage in Office Environment

(in English) It was confirmed that particulate magnetic tape for data storage kept initial characteristics after stored for more than a decade in office environment. Surface roughness, magnetic and frictional properties had not changed. The degradation of poly-urethane and fatty acid ester in magnetic tapes for data storage were much less than those in conventional video tapes for broadcast. LTO-ultrium1 and ultrium2 data cartridge tapes were used in this study, which had launched in the beginning of the 2000s.
