It was confirmed that particulate magnetic tape for data storage kept initial characteristics after stored for more than a decade in office environment. Surface roughness, magnetic and frictional properties had not changed. The degradation of poly-urethane and fatty acid ester in magnetic tapes for data storage were much less than those in conventional video tapes for broadcast. LTO-ultrium1 and ultrium2 data cartridge tapes were used in this study, which had launched in the beginning of the 2000s. |
