Optical Design of Flexible Wide-Viewing-Angle Liquid Crystal Devices Using Plastic Substrates

(in English) Optical compensation of flexible vertical-aligned LCDs was achieved for wide viewing angle. Optical simulation clarified that viewing angle range can be improved by optical compensation considering optical anisotropy of plastic substrates. We then obtained good contrast ratio of 650:1 and wide viewing angle of 160˚ by fabricating devices.
