A 12-GHz (11.7 to 12.75 GHz) band satellite service with orthogonal polarization is expected for transmission channels to deliver advanced broadcasting services such as 8K (Super Hi-Vision). A right- and left-circular polarized parabolic reflector antenna will make it possible to receive services provided over these orthogonal polarizations with a single reflector antenna. However, it is important to mitigate cross polarization interference to transmit large-capacity signals such as those for 8K programs with one transponder. To achieve sufficient cross polarization discernment throughout the 12-GHz band, we designed a dual-polarization microstrip antenna array, which we assumed would be used as a feed antenna for a 12-GHz band receiving reflector antenna. Simulation results showed the voltage standing wave ratio was less than 1.4 and the axial ratio was less than 0.6 dB throughout the 12-GHz band. |
