A study on high-density recording with barium-ferrite particulate tape

(in English) We have developed an advanced Barium-ferrite tape, which has magnetic particle volume of 1600nm3, surface roughness Ra of 0.8nm, and perpendicular squareness ratio of 0.87, on coated particulate media enhanced by fine magnetic particle technology, surface profile design, and particle orientation control. In addition, ultra fine magnetic particles that have particle volume of 1000nm3, which would correspond to 128TB cartridge capacity according to INSIC roadmap, have been also developed.
