Display Week 2014 (SID '14) was held on June 1  6, 2014 in San Diego, California. Here, I will report outstanding presentations in Session 3, 8, 13, 21, 22, 33, 44, 49, 58, and Poster on active-matrix devices. Session 3, 8, and 13 were entitled "Oxide vs. LTPS TFTs", and both groups insisted on their own advantages, whereas the discussion were very active. The future trend seems that oxide-semiconductor and LTPS TFTs share applications and survive together. There were still many presentations on oxide-semiconductor TFTs, but I felt that academically novel contents became fewer. This may means that oxide-semiconductor TFTs completely come into the industrial phase, because a pretty parts of presentations are demonstrations of panels. On the contrary, there were some presentations including deep academic contents based on sufficient consideration. |
