A Study of Schemes for Multimedia Services on Super Hi-Vision Satellite Broadcasting System

(in English) In Japan, Super Hi-Vision (SHV) satellite broadcasting test services are planned to begin in 2016 and commercial services are scheduled in 2020. NHK has been studying technologies for the SHV systems and standardized schemes including a new media transport scheme based on MMT and schemes for multimedia services. This paper describes a new subtitle scheme based on TTML and a new data transport scheme for multimedia services which are standardized as ARIB specifications and describes example services using proposed schemes.
