Error Reduction in SFF technique based on a Weighted Sum of Subband Components

(in English) Shape From Focus/Defocus (SFF/SFD) has been known as a depth estimation technique by using focus information, which gives the depth estimation based on a blockwise focus measure calculated from a set of multi-focus images. The authors have proposed an error reduction technique for SFF which applies a spectral shaping (SS) filter, whose frequency response is a reciprocal of the lens point spread function (PSF), to the focus measure defined as the squared sum of a BPF output. However, this technique cannot reduce the estimation error sufficiently because of the error in the frequency response of the SS filter. To further reduce the estimation error, this paper proposes a new technique that compensates for the spectral error by a weighted sum of two BPF outputs.
