Characteristics of Distribution Equipment for Satellite Broadcasting Reception

(in English) A 12-GHz (11.7 to 12.75 GHz) band satellite service with left hand circular polarization is expected for transmission channels to deliver Ultra High Definition Television (UHDTV) broadcasting services. To carry the received signals, which are provided with right- and left- hand circular polarizations, on a single coaxial cable simultaneously, the signal provided with the left hand circular polarization has to be converted to the frequency higher than the intermediate frequency currently used (1032.23 to 2070.25 MHz). Since ARIB has been studying the technical problem of distribution systems for the satellite broadcasting reception, we evaluated the characteristics of the distribution equipment. The measured results showed the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness for the exposure was more than 31 dB, the effectiveness for the radiation was more than 45 dB, and the insertion loss gently increased with increasing the frequency.
