We developed optical transmission system for an uncompressed 8K UHDTV (Ultra High Definition Television). Chromatic dispersion causes signal waveform degradation in long-haul optical transmission. It is a factor of limitations on a transmission distance. A dispersion compensation fiber is used for optical compensation of the chromatic dispersion, and forward error correction coding is used for electrical compensation. In this paper, we describe experimental results of chromatic dispersion compensation characteristics of our developed system, to which we applies both the dispersion compensation fiber and the forward error correction coding. |
