The latest trend of V-High multimedia broadcasting

A multimedia broadcasting for mobile devices has been provided since April 2012 using the spectrum from 207.5 MHz to 220 MHz (VHF high band), which became vacant after terrestrial analog TV switch off. In addition to the preceding NOTTV, six new channels from five broadcasters started services on April 2015, and the number of contracted subscribers have reached above 1.7 M at the end of March 2015.
In this special talk, the latest trend of the new communications and broadcasting combined type services and contents, including file-based broadcasting, that has been provided by V-High multimedia broadcasting and also the technologies behind are explained.
The vicissitude and the latest trend of the supported receivers (smartphones, etc.) that play an important role for the wide spread of V-High multimedia broadcasting are introduced, and furthermore, some inside stories on the receiver development back in the time of service launch on April 2012 are also disclosed. |
