Optical disc dicrimination method

(in English) We propose a method for identifying the type of a disc inserted into an optical drive. The disc is irradiated with light from an LED light source and the diffracted light from the information recording layer of the disc is detected by using the movement of the disc during disc loading. Results of the optical simulation agree well with the experimental results. A total of 61 discs were measured, and it was confirmed that these discs can be distinguished accurately.
