Compressed Sensing Based Channel Estimation in ISDB-T System without Cyclic Prefix

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting Terrestrial (ISDB-T) is using orthogonal frequency division and multiplexing (OFDM) for its core modulation. Every OFDM transmission requires Cyclic Prefix (CP) in order to mitigate the inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-block interference (IBI). The used of CP also can ease the equalization computation as the channel matrix become circulant and toeplitz. However, CP will create longer OFDM symbol. Moreover, the length of CP will depends on the coverage radius of broadcasting, since the longer CP can accommodate the transmission delay. Recently, a wireless communication scheme without CP by using chained turbo of equalization (CHATUE) technique was proposed. Application of CHATUE in ISDB-T can create better efficiency in spectrum and wider broadcasting coverage area. But, implementation of CHATUE algorithm also requires high computational complexity due to the non-circulant structure of its interference matrices. In this paper, we propose a low-complexity implementation of CHATUE in OFDM system using the masking matrix technique to keep the interference matrices circulant and toeplitz. In addition, we also provide a simulation result to show the new maximum delay spread allowed in this ISDB-T system without CP.
