A Note on Quantification of Relationship between Users and Musical Pieces Using Graph Structure Analysis

This paper presents a quantification method of relationship between users and musical pieces using graph structure analysis. Our previous method recommends music with considering latent features of musical pieces based on topic model. However, our previous method focuses only on similarities between musical pieces but does not consider relationship between users and musical pieces. Therefore, the proposed method makes a graph structure which has nodes representing users or their favorite musical pieces, and the edge weights represent “similarities between users’ preference”, similarities between musical pieces” and “strength of his/her interest in musical pieces”. By monitoring passage distance from users to musical pieces on the graph, we can quantify the relationship between users and musical pieces to realize music recommendation. |
