A Study on Music Generation Based on Characteristics of Video Contents

In this article, a method is proposed to generate a music based on associated video information. Color components and optical flows of characteristic points of the video are used to derive the music. Chord and tempo are determined according to the average color and the displace amounts of characteristic points of the video, respectively. Corresponding to video cut points, the music is composed of Introduction, Verse, Bridge, Chorus, Solo, and Ending, consisting of 4 parts, i.e., main and sub melodies, base and drum part. Melody and base parts are generated mainly depending on displace amounts of characteristic points, and drums part on, in addition, colors and others information. Some experimental results show that acceptable music are generated. |
