A New Correlation between Accommodation and Sensation of Natural3D for High-Quality Displays

視差を利用した3D表現技術では、視聴位置の依存性、視差映像や専用の再生環境にかかるコスト、そして一般に視覚疲労が生じるという課題を抱えている。一方、特殊な3D技術を使わずとも、高精細・高品質な2D映像からはnatural3D(n3D)という自然な立体感を感じる現象が確認されており、視差式3D表現技術が抱えるデメリットが生じない特徴を持つ。本研究では、n3Dを評価するために、人間の生理的反応である焦点調節機能と被験者が感じるn3D感覚の相関について調査を行った。焦点調節機能はレフ/ケラトメータのWAM-5500を用いて測定を行い、n3Dは、被験者が感じた感覚を直感的に表現できるようなレバー(n3D-lever)を作製し、同時に評価した。その結果、被験者、コンテンツ、ディスプレイなどで多くの相関を確認することができた。本測定法は、ディスプレイやコンテンツから生じるn3Dを評価する手法として有用であると考える。 |

Current technologies for expressing 3D are subject to restrictions on viewing conditions, require large amounts of data, have high production costs and cause visual fatigue. Natural3D(n3D)® is a phenomenon for experiencing 3D with high-resolution two-dimensional images without the use of specialized technology and thus eliminating the above stated disadvantages. To determine the nature of n3D, the correlation between the accommodation and sensation of n3D was studied. Eye-refraction was measured with an Auto Ref/Keratometer (WAM-5500). The sensation of n3D was indicated with an adjustable lever. Results indicate a correlation between accommodation and sensation for multiple participants, contents and displays. This method may be used for comparing displays and video contents. |
