Artificial Extraction of Finger Outlines in Hand Images with Self-occlusion

No method extracted outlines of fingers which were bent towards a palm area even if color gloves were used.
The authors have taken notice of a feature that unwanted outlines to be removed are next to a palm or back side of the hand.
A new method and color glove for removing them were developed considered with this feature.
The authors investigated relationship between wrist rotation angles and percentages of correct elimination of unwanted outlines.
Angles were from -90 degree (palm sided) to 90 degree (back sided).
As a result of experiments, an average correct probability was 84.6 %. this system could be used for hand images including the palm or back side of the hand.
In conclusion, using the proposed method and color glove is effective for constructing a new finger outlines extraction system in hand images with self-occlusion. |
