Temporal Measurement of Binocular Accommodation Response by Object Distance

Temporal changes of binocular accommodation response were measured for different object distances. The measurements were performed with a binocular photorefractive accommodometer relying on infrared photorefraction and astigmatism introduced by a cylindrical lens. Three subjects took part in the experiment and the results showed that accommodation response of the main eye was clearly changing as a function of the object distance while the response of the sub eye was hardly changed. Therefore, the suggested measurement system confirmed that the main eye is playing the most important role in the accommodation process for perceiving depth information of objects. |
