Haptic Feedback on See-Through Autostereoscopic 3D Images by an Array of Electromagnets

(in English) We have proposed an autostereoscopic 3D imaging system which presents tactile feedback when operating with a fingertip by using magnetic force and experimented to confirm our method. In the system, it is possible to present the pulled feeling which was difficult to express by the conventional method. The system displays an aerial 3D image using a half mirror by a virtual image of the autostereoscopic 3D image displayed using a liquid crystal panel and a lenticular. An electromagnet array is installed under the half mirror and each electromagnet is controlled. This makes it possible to realize tactile feedback to the user who attached a magnetic object to a fingertip, assist the manipulation of the aerial image with more accurate touch operation. In this paper, we describe the outline of the system and the principle experiment for implementation and its result.
