Tongue-operated Input Device for People with Severe Motor Impairments

(in English) Tongue of human has many freedoms and can move speedy and correctly. The sublingual nerve which controls tongue motion is innervated by the cranial nerve, and it tends to remain even in severe motor impairments. We propose a tongue-operated pointing device with an endoscope wearing a silicone bulb for severe motor impairments. The device obtain tongue motion from the endoscope images by deep convolutional neural network. And transfer learning can adapts as degree of impairment or user’s habit in daily use.
