[Special Talk] Research and Development aimed at UHD Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting -- Expanding Transmission Capacity and Effective Utilization of Frequency --

(in English) We have been developing a next generation terrestrial broadcasting system that enables Ultra High Definition Television broadcasting, such as 4K and 8K. As fundamental technologies, a large capacity transmission technology for UHD broadcasting and advanced SFN technology for effective frequency utilization have been developed. We have conducted field tests to evaluate the feasibility of them in an actual environment as well. Moreover, we are developing a preliminary specification that inherits the advantage of the current system ISDB-T, and incorporates the newly developed technologies. This report presents the results of the field test and an overview of the preliminary specification.
