Speeding up of photo-realistic point cloud generation for computer-generated holograms using photon mapping

(in English) The computer-generated hologram (CGH) can reproduce a virtual object in a real space as a complete three-dimensional image. In order to calculate interference fringes as CGH the point light source data is generated by acquiring a two-dimensional perspective view and depth information of the virtual object. In the previous studies, graphic point light source data was generated using progressive photon mapping (PPM). However, in the calculation of CGH with proper hidden surface removal, point light source data generated from a plurality of viewpoints are required,In the PPM, it is necessary to perform irradiation of photons at each viewpoint and it takes time to calculate. Therefore, in this report, by using photon mapping that uses data of previously irradiated photons at each viewpoint, it is possible to generate point light source data at each viewpoint at high speed.
