Effect of differences in object color and material texture on brightness constancy for real objects

(in English) We investigated whether object’s perceptual brightness-transition among different illuminations showed any relationship with its color and material texture. In the experiment, participants compared the perceptual brightness of a pair of identical objects under artificial solar lighting and natural color fluorescent lamp, The results showed that reddish objects looked brighter under artificial solar lighting and that the other colors looked brighter under fluorescent lamp. These results indicates the possibility that object’s color rendering can be partly estimated dependent on its object color. .On the other hand, the luminance-transition of object’s diffuse reflection showed no correlation with its perceptual brightness-transition.
