Mobile Transmission Trial of 8K Video using 4x4 TDD-SVD-MIMO System with Adaptive Transmission Control

In order to expand a capacity of mobile relay FPUs, the authors have been researching a 4x4 TDD-SVD-MIMO system with adaptive transmission control that changes beam-forming weights, bit and power allocation, and turbo-code rates in accordance with channel conditions. We conducted an outdoor field trial using a prototype system where the total number of modulation bits per subcarrier was set to 16 and demonstrated a reliable transmission of the 8K video with the maximum data rate of 145 Mbps. We also investigated the transmission performance when the number of streams formed by SVD-MIMO was limited. The result showed that the system using only 3 streams achieved almost equivalent data rates compared to the system using all patterns of streams in the trial, leading to reduction of computational complexity and feedback information. |
