Image Regularization with Morphological Gradient and Total Variation Priors Using Optimization of Structuring Element by GA

(in English) As an image prior for image restoration, a method using the sum of morphological gradients for an image has been proposed. Optimization of structuring elements used for this morphological gradient using a genetic algorithm (GA) has also been introduced. This method has used the minimized value of the objective function of the restoration problem as the fitness of GA. However, this value does not necessarily coincide with objective evaluation such as MSE. Therefore, in this paper, we formulate the objective function using morphological gradient and total variation (TV) as a new image prior for an image restoration problem. In this case, the proposed objective function makes it possible to match the fitness almost to the objective evaluation and can improve the restoration accuracy. It also solves the problem of artifact due to structuring elements unsuitable for the image. An experiment shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.
