Development of Compact Transmitter for Millimeter-wave SHV Wireless Camera

We have been studying a single-carrier transmission with frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) being generally robust to distortion of a power amplifier and superior in power-efficiency for 4K and 8K Super Hi-Vision (SHV) wireless camera using 42-GHz band of millimeter-wave. In this report, we describe a prototype transmitter with the SC-FDE and evaluating its transmission performance. The compact transmitter that can transmit 200-Mbps-class SHV signals was realized by doubling the channel bandwidth of the conventional millimeter-wave 80-Mbps-class 2K wireless camera using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). The transmission power was doubled to compensate the noise power caused by doubled bandwidth. |
