The advanced satellite broadcasting for UHDTV was launched in Japan in December 2018. MPEG media transport (MMT) is used as the Internet-protocol-based media transport scheme to realize advanced broadcast-broadband hybrid services over the Internet. In this paper, we describe a real-time distribution system of dynamic volumetric data for augmented reality (AR) content on second-display devices. For synchronized presentation with the video delivered by MMT, each frame of the volumetric data sequence is transmitted along with coordinated universal time (UTC)-based presentation timestamps. We evaluated the inter-terminal synchronization function by a transmission experiment using volumetric data sequence and video sequence captured at the same time in a volumetric capture studio. The viewer of the content can follow a subject of the content from any angle as if they were the camera operator. |
