A Video Frame Selection Method for Efficient 3D Model Generation

(in English) Utilization of 3D data obtained with real space surveys is attracting attention with the improvement of 3D measuring and computer processing. SfM-MVS is one of 3D measuring technology using multi-viewpoint images, its process requires a group of images with overlapping regions, however it is difficult to acquire the data set, generally. In this report, we proposed a method to select frame images suitable for SfM-MVS processing from video stream, and showed the numerical evaluation result. From the experiment results, it was found that the calculation cost can be reduced with maintaining the positional accuracy by SfM-MVS processing on the continuous images with appropriate overlap.
