[Invited Talk] Image sensing technologies and the needs in the field of radiology -- including the detection of extravasation --
Katsumasa Nakamura (Hamamatsu Univ.Med)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In the clinical practice of medicine, it is indispensable to inject a drug through a blood vessel. However, the extravasation of the drug occurs frequently and sometimes causes serious adverse events. In the field of radiology, the prevention from the leakage of contrast media in the CT examination or radioactive drugs in the nuclear medicine is important, but at present, the technology for detecting extravasation is not sufficient. We are conducting research for early detection of extravasation, and some of them are discussed. In addition, surface monitoring technology is important to perform radiation therapy accurately, and the trends are introduced.
